Every exceptional collection begins with an idea. The new MAOCI Catalogue 2026 demonstrates how inspiration is transformed into products of lasting beauty. Its striking new visual identity reflects this ambition from the very first glance. Rich shades of magenta and royal purple define the catalogue's distinctive appearance, lending it remarkable presence and sophistication. While magenta represents creativity, innovation and the confidence to bring fresh inspiration to the world of tea culture, purple symbolises timeless elegance and exclusivity. For centuries, it was the colour of kings and emperors, and to this day it remains synonymous with luxury, prestige and uncompromising quality.
Over not less than 165 pages, the catalogue showcases a carefully curated collection of cast iron teaware, fine porcelain, elegant glassware and premium Matcha accessories. Forty exciting new additions across the cast iron and Matcha collections enrich the range and introduce fresh highlights for the coming season. Classic forms have been thoughtfully refined, while innovative designs reflect contemporary trends and seamlessly unite traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. The result is a collection that balances beauty, quality and functionality, offering retailers a wealth of inspiration for the season ahead.
This exceptional visual presentation has once again been created by the renowned photographer Conny Kurth, who has collaborated successfully with MAOCI for many years. Her remarkable eye for light, colour and composition produces images that do far more than showcase products—they reveal their unique character and atmosphere. Every photograph is the result of meticulous creative direction, from the development of the colour concept and the careful selection of props to the precise lighting and positioning of every individual piece. The MAOCI Catalogue 2026 is therefore much more than a product catalogue; it is a source of inspiration for the retail trade and a reflection of MAOCI's enduring commitment to exceptional quality, refined design and the timeless beauty of tea culture.

EU raises Anti-Dumping duties on Chinese ceramics to 79 percent
Trade policy tightened dramatically: the European Union has increased import duties on ceramic from China from 17.4 to 79 percent
The European Union has sharply escalated its trade measures against Chinese goods. With immediate effect, a uniform anti-dumping duty of 79 percent applies to ceramic imports from the People’s Republic of China. The decision, announced on 6 February, is intended to shield the European market from subsidised low-cost imports, but it places significant pressure on importers across the bloc. The measures will initially remain in force for five years.
For MAOCI, the duty rate has risen from 17.4 percent by a further 61.6 percentage points - more than quadrupling the previous levy. As a consequence, the company’s long-standing price stability in the ceramics segment can no longer be maintained. The measures affect ceramic cups, bowls, plates, teacups, mugs and jugs. „This is a serious challenge“, said CEO Dirk Wiebracht. „For us, it means that we will have to adjust our prices with the next catalogue update in the spring.”
The steep increase follows an in-depth investigation by the European Commission. The inquiry concluded that Chinese manufacturers benefit extensively from state intervention, including preferential access to financing, land and raw materials. Initial anti-dumping duties were introduced as early as 2013. A review launched in December 2024 examined whether the existing rates—ranging from 13.1 to 36.1 percent—remained adequate. The conclusion is unequivocal: Only a substantial increase to 79 percent would restore fair competitive conditions, the EU stated.
Matcha remains a trend beverage in 2026 – from hype to lifestyle
From social-media sensation to enduring lifestyle drink: Matcha continues to captivate in 2026
The matcha craze that swept cafés, social media and lifestyle magazines worldwide in 2024/25 shows no sign of disappearing in 2026—albeit in a more settled and sustainable form. While the viral peak is gradually fading, matcha continues to enjoy widespread appeal thanks to its perceived health benefits, its unique combination of caffeine and L-theanine for focused, balanced energy, and its remarkable versatility across beverages and snacks. Demand is rising steadily, particularly in North America, Europe and the Asia–Pacific region, driven by innovative offerings such as matcha lattes, smoothies, desserts and functional blended drinks.
A key driver of matcha’s enduring popularity is its alignment with broader wellness and lifestyle trends. Increasingly, matcha is embraced as part of mindful morning rituals, fitness regimes and self-care routines. At the same time, the limited availability of high-quality production from Japan helps preserve its exclusivity and reinforces its premium positioning. This convergence of sustainability, product innovation and lifestyle integration has established matcha as a stable fixture in the global beverage and wellness market—well beyond the fleeting nature of a social-media hype.
For MAOCI, this means that matcha is not merely a passing trend but a long-term companion for those who seek to unite enjoyment, health and a conscious lifestyle. Our range offers the diversity that meets today’s consumer needs—simply teaware for your life.
47 billion cups of tea – and no end in sight
Why tea continues to thrive and how consumption in Germany compares internationally
Tea was once again one of Germany’s most popular beverages in 2025. Average per-capita consumption stands at around 67.2 litres per year, encompassing not only classic black and green teas but also herbal and fruit infusions. This amounts to an estimated 47 billion cups of tea consumed across the country. Preferences are particularly pronounced in the herbal and fruit segment: at 40.1 litres per person, these varieties account for the larger share, while black and green tea together make up 27.1 litres per capita. Despite a slight year-on-year decline of around 1.5 per cent, tea consumption in Germany thus remains stable at a consistently high level.
In a global context, Germany occupies a solid middle position. Worldwide, approximately 31 million tonnes of tea are consumed each year, equivalent to around 2.3 billion cups a day. In absolute terms, countries with large populations and deeply rooted tea cultures dominate consumption: China leads with roughly 14 million tonnes annually, followed by India at around 6 million tonnes. Countries such as Kenya also play a significant role in the global tea market. On a per-capita basis, however, nations like Turkey and the United Kingdom rank among the leading tea drinkers.
Overall, the comparison shows that Germany’s per-capita consumption lies close to the global average, yet stands out for its strong demand for herbal and fruit teas. Tea is firmly embedded in everyday life in Germany – enjoyed as a pleasure drink, embraced as a comforting ritual, and increasingly chosen as a conscious alternative to coffee.
